A simple recipe for Crockpot Christmas crack also known as Crockpot Christmas candy. This Crockpot Christmas crack recipe is a less expensive spin off the original recipe and you only have to go to one store for all of the ingredients. Stove top instructions included.
Crockpot Christmas Crack Recipe
If you're looking for a fun holiday treat, an easy dessert to bring to a holiday pot luck, or a food-gift for Christmas you'll want to make this Crockpot Christmas Crack. It's simple to make and this batch makes 60-80 pieces of Christmas Candy, or more depending on how big you like your Crockpot Christmas candy pieces.
I promised a less expensive version of the original Crockpot Christmas Crack recipe. The original uses white chocolate bark and two bags of peanut butter chips. I use white chocolate chips and peanut butter in this recipe because they are less expensive (usually) and you don't have to go to a specialty store to get white chocolate chips, like you do white chocolate bark.
That means you can make this Crockpot Christmas Crack using less money and only having to go to one grocery store vs. also making a second trip to a specialty store.
Ingredients in Crockpot Christmas Crack
- Dark Chocolate Chips
- Milk Chocolate Chips (or semi-sweet)
- Peanuts
- White Chocolate Chips
- Peanut Butter
Tips for making Crockpot Christmas Crack
- Add the ingredients into you Crockpot or slow cooker in the order they are listed. This is very important. White chocolate doesn't melt if it has direct contact with the bottom of the slow cooker, it just clumps and burns.
- Don't stir your ingredient before they are done heating up. The heat will transfer up through the ingredients and soften all of the chocolate chips.
- The magic happens when the hour is up and you stir everything together. The chocolate chips will melt and the flavors will combine.
- Let it set up in the refrigerator or freezer before serving.
I've included a video showing you how easy it is to make Crockpot Christmas Crack, also known as Crockpot Christmas Candy.
Stove top Christmas Crack
If you don't have a slow cooker you can make this Christmas candy on the stove. Simply place the dark chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips in a large stock pot and melt over low heat, stirring often. Once the chocolate chips are melted, remove the pot from the heat and stir in the white chocolate chips.
Let them sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the heat to transfer to the white chocolate chips. Stir in the peanut butter then stir in the peanuts. Drop by tablespoon full onto a parchment or wax lined baking sheet or plate. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until set.
Can I use White Chocolate Bark in Crockpot Christmas Crack?
Yes, I mentioned above that I don't' use it because it tends to be more expensive than white chocolate chips and I have to travel to a specialty store. You can use white chocolate bark in place of the chocolate chips. One pound should do the trick.
Can I use semi-sweet chocolate chips?
Yes, you can replace the dark chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips with semi-sweet chocolate chips.
My Christmas Candy is melty
Like almost any chocolate candy, this Christmas candy will melt in a warm hand or out in the sun. It's best to store it in the refrigerator or freezer until you are ready to share it. It does great on a table in a temperature-controlled room.
Allergy friendly options
If you are gluten-free make sure you read labels to ensure your chocolate chips are gluten free. For a nut free Christmas candy version, you can use your favorite seed butter. If you can't do peanuts, use sliced almonds and almond butter.

do I have to use white chocolate? I have 3 bags of semi sweet and one dark...
also, the only peanut butter I have is fresh honey roasted peanut butter...is this ok? there's a blizzard out there!!
chrystal
You don't have to add the white chocolate but note that it adds to the flavor. You can also use your pb 🙂

Hi, Chrystal! This sounds amazing! Is the unsalted peanut butter a must? I have GF Jif but it doesn’t state that it’s unsalted.
chrystal
You can use the jiff, it's okay if it's salted.
Best,
Chrystal

Hello Chrystal, This looks amazing! My grandfather would have loved this for sure 🙂 Do you recommend nuts such as Planter's Dry Roasted or something more like their Cocktail Peanuts? I am looking forward to trying this out for some of my Aunts and Uncles - my father was the eldest of nine and they all have their father's sweet tooth! Thanks a bunch!
chrystal
Hi Jodi,
Dry roasted nuts work great and they add a little extra salt. You can use cocktail peanuts as well but for either, just watch the salt.
Best,
Chrystal
