GLUTEN-FREE ICE CREAM CONES RECIPE
Buying gluten-free ice cream with a cone is difficult at your local ice cream parlor. Not all stores are equipped for a gluten-free diet. I always ask if they offer gluten-free cones and ice cream. If they know their stuff, you will see them using another scoop and placing the GF cones away from the wheat ones. This is always my litmus test if you like to see if they actually understand.
With the above said, as with all recipes, you don't need to miss out. These are super easy to make. Make it a family affair and adorn them with chocolate and sprinkles. You can never have too many sprinkles!

Easy to make - If you have made waffles before, this is a similar process, only an added step of rolling the cones to shape and a thinner batter. The cone roller helps you do this!
INGREDIENTS IN GLUTEN-FREE ICE CREAM CONES
Butter - Use unsalted butter, melted and cooled. We will add salt separately.
Egg - 2 large egg whites to bind the ingredients.
Sugar - I've used granulated sugar to add sweetness to the cones.
Extract - Use a good quality vanilla extract.
Flour - Use all-purpose gluten-free flour that's sifted.
Baking powder - 1 tsp. baking powder
Salt - ¼ tsp salt. I like to add my own salt, so use unsalted butter.
Milk - 2 tbsp milk, dairy free or regular. This makes the batter a bit thinner.
Toppings - Melted semisweet chocolate, sprinkles, or toasted nuts.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR THIS GLUTEN-FREE ICE CREAM CONES
Waffle cone maker - This one is slightly different from my waffle cone maker but has a cone roller included in it.

HOW TO MAKE GLUTEN-FREE ICE CREAM CONES
- Preheat the waffle cone maker.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix egg whites and sugar using a whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved and the egg is light for about 3-5 minutes.
- Add melted butter and vanilla extract and mix well.
- In another mixing bowl, mix gluten-free flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until incorporated.
- Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture. Give a light mix and add some milk. The batter will be very stiff, tacky, and smooth.
- Spray the waffle cone maker with nonstick spray. Then, scoop out about ¼ cup of batter. Pour in the middle of the waffle cone maker. Shut the lid.
- Cook for about 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.
- Then, carefully remove it from the waffle cone maker. Immediately use a cone roller to shape the cones. They are hot and easily formable, but please be careful. You have to do this very fast, or it will get crisp and hard to form.
- Finally, allow the cones to fully cool while wrapped around the cone roller. Then repeat the process for the remaining batter.
- After all the cones are completely cool, they will become so crunchy. Dip the top edges in the melted chocolate and sprinkle with some nuts and sprinkles.

Use a ¼ cup - The ¼ cup helps you to maintain the same size.
