Have you been looking for a healthy, gluten-free sausage? We recently tried First Fresh Chicken Sausage and love that it’s made from fresh simple ingredients and is free from added hormones, nitrates, and MSGs.
Our family eats sausage at least once a week. Sometimes it’s hard for us to find fresh sausage that’s not only gluten-free, but isn’t full of other ingredients that I can’t even pronounce. Recently, First Fresh reached out to me and asked me if I’d be interested in trying their chicken sausages. In addition to being fresh, and free from gluten containing products, their products are also free from remnants and fillers, and are purely made of lean, whole chicken muscle. How could I say no to that?
They sent me Breakfast Sausage Links, and Hot and Mild Italian Sausage. They have several other products as well, including croquettes, meatballs (coming soon), and ground meat – all of which I can’t wait to try now that we know we like their sausages.
I was in a rush to make lunch the other day and opened the refrigerator to a package of sausage. I tapped it with my fingers, contemplating on using it. What could I make with the sausage? Could I get it on the table before my kids started telling me they were starving? I pulled the package out and sliced the sausage into rounds and pan fried them. When they were almost cooked through, I added some chopped summer squash – to soak up the flavors from the sausage (and sneak in some veggies).
I scooped a heaping serving-spoon full of sausage and squash into three bowls and topped with cilantro, cherry tomatoes, and avocado. My kids and I loved every bite. The sausage was flavorful, but not in an overpowering way – like you’d find with some sausages. The spices really pulled the dish together, and overall it was extremely healthy.
We now look to First Fresh for our sausages and look forward to seeing what other products they launch in the future.
Disclosure: I received sausage in exchange for my honest review. Opinions are my own and are not influenced by free products.
