You know that I’m big on keeping things simple. I don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen and I’m sure you don’t want to either. That’s why I know you’ll love this sausage appetizer recipe. It’s simple, it calls for minimal ingredients, and it’s got tons of flavor thanks to the sausage.

I’m so very in love with First Fresh Chicken Sausage and I can’t get enough of their Hot Italian Sausage. I knew when I tried them that they would be amazing as an appetizer. I sliced the whole package into little rounds, wrapped them with bacon and cooked them until they were nice and crispy. Unfortunately, First Fresh isn’t available anymore. You can use your favorite sausage in this sausage appetizer.
I topped these little sausage appetizers with a mild goat cheese and apricot preserves. Oh my goodness! They were spicy, they were savory, and they were sweet. And they’re super dangerous and hard to stop eating. Again, you can make these spicy appetizers with a less spicy sausage to cool it down a bit.
This sausage and bacon appetizer recipe makes 25 little bacon wrapped sausage appetizers and they are SO EASY to pop into your mouth and enjoy. We were invited to a cocktail party and being that the party was border line black-tie, I wanted to bring a gluten free appetizer that matched the theme and wowed the other guests.
I made two batches of these Spicy Sausage and Bacon Appetizers. Of course they were a big hit.
How to make sausage appetizers
- Preheat oven to 425F. Slice sausage into 1-inch circles (about 5 per link).
- Slice bacon strips in half Wrap a half-piece bacon around each sausage round. Place onto a baking sheet with a 1 inch “lip”. Repeat until all sausage is wrapped.
- Bake for 22 minutes or until sausage is cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and cool.

Gluten Free Party Food
People thought I must have slaved over these tasty little sausage and bacon appetizers. In all honesty, it took me about ten minutes to get them in the oven. Once they were cook, I topped each sausage appetizer with a dollop of goat cheese, a spoonful of preserves and put a cute toothpick in the center.
You don’t have to top these gluten free appetizers with anything. The goat cheese and preservers helped with the spice. Use a mild sausage with the bacon and they’ll be phenomenal as it.
