Convenience is key in this current pace of life, and breakfast can be made easier with the best gluten-free frozen waffles. And, yes, they do exist. We've done all the groundwork, so all you need to do is go in-store or online and select which one you want to try.
I've also included one of our homemade gluten-free waffle recipes for when you have that extra time on your hands.
What To Look For In Ready-Made Gluten-Free Frozen Waffles
As a foodie, the brand of waffles needs to pass certain requirements to be considered on my list. So here is the criteria I've used.
- Texture - A good waffle is crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. It must not be gummy.
- Flavor - So it has to taste good, right, and not have an aftertaste from the gluten-free flour used or from the baking powder.
- Ingredients - As with any ready-made or boxed product, I like to look for a short ingredient list where possible.
- Nutrition - I like to have protein, fibre, or whole grains. Breakfast is the first meal of the day, so I try and make it as nutritious as possible.
- Availability - This is especially important to me, I don't have time (who does) to run around from store to store trying to track down my favorite gluten-free waffle. But I am an online type of gal and avoid shops at all costs.
Let's explore which brands satisfied most of the above requirements.
Top Gluten-Free Frozen Waffles By Brand
Here are my top 5 go-to brands, each has its strengths and weaknesses.

The original waffles from Vans have been a staple in the gluten-free community for many years.
Why buy them:
- It is a certified gluten-free brand.

Banza Homestyle Protein Waffles
Homestyle Protein Waffles from Banza are made from chickpeas and is a great homestyle waffle.

Brazi Bites Gluten-Free Waffles
These gluten-free waffles from Brazi Bites are also really good. We love all 3 flavors of cheesy, homestyle, and blueberry.
Why buy them:

Birch Benders Paleo Toaster Waffles
Paleo Toaster Waffles from Birch Benders are also another favorite. Although it is grain free and dairy free, it tastes really good.
Why buy them:

- No added sugar.
- Super tasty and filling.
Availability - More than likely available online. But it all depends where you live.
Sadly, Trader Joe's has recalled the Trader Joe’s Gluten-Free Toaster Waffles and Natural Organics Waffles has discontinued their waffles. Side note: Both of these brands where so good! The recalls were due to a potential Listeria contamination in October 2024. So, fingers crossed, the Trader Joe's gluten-free waffles are in the pipeline to return as the viral Frozen Blueberry Waffles have landed back on the shelves in April 2025.
Store-Bought vs. Homemade
I'm a fan of homemade, as I can customize the taste and texture according to what I like. With store-bought, you get what they offer, and there is no room for changing this. I also like the fact that I am in total control of the ingredients I place into the recipe. And not to mention the cost, yes, it is my time, but at the end of the day, you need to keep an eye out for the cost of living. Especially with egg prices being high.
But, don't get me wrong, I am a mom and from the endless list of chores, playing Uber driver from all the up and down activities, I can sink my teeth into one of those brands mentioned, as sometimes there is just no time to go the homemade route and it is money well spent to have a breakfast available. And a nice break from cereals.
And the other benefit of making your own? It's easy to make paleo waffles or vegan waffles if that's what you need. It's important to me to be able to identify the ingredients, so we know exactly what's in our food.
Make Homemade Gluten-Free Waffles
I must confess, between making homemade pancakes and waffles over the weekend, it is an outlet for me. I enjoy being in the kitchen, so I tend to default to these homemade gluten-free waffles.
Prepare The Gluten-Free Waffle Recipe
So we have a load of options for waffles on this site. So choose your favorite option and prepare it according to the recipe. And don't forget to cool them.
That's an easy step, because they'll cool when you call everyone down for breakfast. The key here: Let the waffles cool on a cooling rack so that they do not get soggy on the bottom.
Freeze The Waffles
Once they have cooled, place them on a baking tray and then freeze them. Once frozen, transfer them to a freezer bag. You can freeze them for up to 3 months.
Reheat The Waffles
I like to reheat mine in the toaster so they get a nice crunch. The waffle maker I have is a mini one that makes the perfect size for my toaster. Or you can warm them up in the microwave, oven, or air fryer.
How to Serve Gluten-Free Waffles
Well, this is the best part and can make or break the enjoyment of your waffle. I like to tone it down for breakfast, but my kids have a sweet tooth, so if it were up to them, it would have to be Nutella all the way. And if that's not available, syrup is the next best option.
- Sweet - We love adding some gluten-free fruit compote. At least the children are getting in some fruit before a busy school day. Another top favorite, mostly reserved for weekends, is this homemade chocolate sauce.
- Savory - Well, here the options are endless: add avocado with a poached egg, salmon with some cream cheese, or crispy bacon or gluten-free sausage.
Just remember to check the allergen info if you're looking for something Celiac friendly.
What Equipment Do I Need To Make The Best Waffles
So the most important piece of equipment is your waffle maker and big mixing bowls. And then, of course, a toaster to heat them up after being frozen.
Which gluten free waffle will you try first?
Give these frozen gluten-free waffles brands a try, or if you have the time and energy, make a homemade batch to freeze. The main thing is to choose the option that works best for your lifestyle.
