Here's the recipe for my delectable, easy-to-make Gluten-Free Chicken Spinach Pasta. The sauce calls for only four required ingredients, and it packs a robust flavor into every mouthwatering bite. I make enough of this chicken spinach pasta for eight servings at a time, enough for an unforgettable family meal.
The best part is the rich spinach sauce. Once you blend the leafy greens with flavorful parmesan cheese, it goes well with any gluten-free noodles you serve. Try it with one of my gluten-free side dishes for a complete meal.
Gluten-Free Chicken Spinach Pasta Recipe
Here's how to make my easy chicken spinach pasta. I'm serving it with my favorite gluten free fettuccine. That can cook while you prepare the sauce.
My noodles cook in about eight minutes. Just drop them into boiling water, then rinse them once they're out. If you're using Banza noodles, watch out for foam. They're delicious with my spinach pasta sauce, but I used a generic gluten-free fettuccini noodle for my photos. Note that you could also try this with my egg noodles.

To make the sauce, first prep your ingredients.
Then, add the spinach and three-quarters of a cup of parmesan cheese to a blender. If you're using garlic, add that too.
I prefer to add fresh garlic from my garden, peeled and chopped, for flavor.
Once you blend this mix to a relatively smooth purée, set it aside and cook the chicken. For this, I use a medium sautée pan over medium-high heat. Brown the diced chicken.
Then you combine the sauce with the chicken, stir in any remaining ingredients (extra garlic or parmesan, for example), and add the noodles.

The result is a rich, cheesy chicken spinach pasta!
Ingredients to Use
- Spinach (baby spinach or regular)
- Skinless chicken breasts (diced)
- Parmesan cheese
- Olive oil
- Gluten-free noodles

There are a few optional ingredients, too. I used the following for my recipe (and you'll see this in the photos and videos).
- Garlic (fresh!)
- Basil
- Salt and pepper
Note that your choice of noodles will play a big role in how your recipe turns out. I love penne noodles, linguini, and fettuccini (like I'm showing with these photos). I also love chickpea noodles. They're gluten-free, and they're a good source of fiber.
Why I Love Gluten-Free Chicken Spinach Pasta
This easy recipe goes with so many of my favorite side dishes, and it doesn't take many ingredients. Once I prepare my spinach pasta sauce and combine it with chicken and noodles, it's ready to serve with a lemon asparagus side dish and (of course!) my favorite gluten-free garlic bread.

These are some of my favorite meals because so many ingredients grow in my garden or come from my local CSA.
Whether I'm using garlic scapes in June or fresh garlic later in the summer, there's always something I can include in this gluten-free main course.
I also love that this creamy sauce doesn't actually use any cream. It doesn't need cream, tomato, chicken broth, mushrooms, or any of the other common ingredients for a good pasta sauce. It's just spinach, cheese, oil, and chicken. That's it!
Talk about an easy comfort food!
Tips for Making Chicken Spinach Pasta
Here are a few things to consider when making my gluten-free chicken spinach pasta. The first is simplicity.
- Don't overcomplicate the recipe. It works with just spinach, cheese, oil, and noodles. I recommend adding salt, garlic, and basil, but you don't need much else.
- Make sure to blend the spinach. Blending the spinach and cheese ensures the sauce turns into a sauce!
- Brown the chicken. If you're using diced chicken breasts, it's best browned before you add the sauce.
- If you're using a chickpea pasta, make sure to boil your noodles in a large pot (because they foam!)
Those are a few considerations that really make this chicken spinach pasta a memorable dish.
Note that, while I don't recommend complicating this recipe, I always encourage experiments. In this case, my chicken pasta recipe turns out well with a variety of different vegetables. If you're going to add onions, peas, or carrots, I'd recommend sauteeing them with your chicken.

Gluten-Free Chicken Spinach Pasta
My gluten-free chicken spinach pasta makes enough for eight servings. It's a mouthwatering dish and super easy to make (even on a weeknight). Make it with as few as five ingredients!
Ingredients
- 1 lbs fresh spinach
- 2 chicken breasts, cubed
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 15 oz gluten free fettuccine, cook as cooking instructions
- 2 tbsp basil leaves, chopped (optional)
- 3 cloves garlic, finely minced (optional)
- Salt and pepper (optional)
Instructions
- In a pot of boiling water, add salt. Then add the spinach and cook for 45 seconds. Rinsing cooked spinach with cold water stops the cooking process.
- Place the cooked spinach, ¾ cup of Parmesan, and half of the grated garlic in a blender. Blend until a smooth purée.
- Place a large sauté pan over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
- Add the chicken to the sauté pan, season with salt, and fry for 4-5 minutes until cooked.
- (optional) Add the remaining grated garlic and chopped basil to the chicken in the pan and mix through.
- (optional) Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the pasta and stir it through the spinach and chicken sauce.
- Serve, and sprinkle the remaining Parmesan over the top as a garnish.
Notes
To make my gluten-free chicken spinach pasta as a vegetarian dish, replace the chicken with extra-firm tofu and shorten step four to only one minute.
