WHIPPED HOT CHOCOLATE RECIPE
I'm not exactly sure why we started whipping our drinks, but I'm glad that we did! This past year I've seen whipped coffee (Dalgona), whipped matcha tea, and now whipped hot chocolate.
I've even seen creators making fantastic art out of whipped drinks.
We aren't going to get that fancy here today, but whipping the ingredients for hot chocolate is easy and fun to do, and creates a beautiful presentation.
The whipped cocoa mix will slowly melt into hot milk to create a creamy, sweet whipped hot chocolate that everyone will enjoy.
Whipped hot chocolate is perfect for a relaxing night in, or serving to the kids after they come in from the cold.
You need just a few simple ingredients to create this masterpiece. Start by mixing up a batch of my Gluten Free Hot Cocoa Mix and you'll be almost ready to go.

- Gather the ingredients. Make sure that the heavy cream is cold before you start.
- In a large mixing bowl, with an electric mixer, whip the cold whipping cream, vanilla extract, hot chocolate mix, and powdered sugar together.
- Continue whipping on high until the mixture begins to thicken and soft peaks form, similar to making whipped cream.
- Add heated milk to two mugs, and spoon or pipe the whipped hot chocolate on top. Sprinkle cocoa, cinnamon, or chocolate shavings on top and enjoy!
These numbered steps match the numbered photos above and are for illustration purposes. For the complete list of ingredients and instructions in this whipped hot chocolate recipe, please see the recipe below.
HOW TO MAKE DAIRY FREE WHIPPED HOT CHOCOLATE
A few simple substitutions will create an amazing dairy free whipped hot chocolate.
Use a dairy-free hot cocoa mix, store bought dairy free whipped cream, and your favorite dairy free milk.
I suggest whipping the ingredients for the cocoa together first with a bit of milk, then folding in the dairy free whipped topping before serving.
VARIATIONS FOR WHIPPED HOT CHOCOLATE
Once you have this method down, you can dress your whipped hot chocolate up in so many ways!
Serve it cold. Iced whipped hot chocolate will be just as yummy, simply use cold milk instead of hot.
Add more flavor. Different flavor extracts like peppermint, almond, or coconut in addition to the vanilla would be delicious.
Make this a grown up drink. Add coffee liqueur or a cinnamon liqueur for a little kick.
You could also make this whipped hot chocolate sugar free by using a sugar free hot cocoa mix and sugar free whipped cream.
