Are you hosting a gluten-free brunch? Here are some of our favorite gluten-free brunch recipes perfect for getting the family together for a relaxed social gathering, and a few tips if it's your first time hosting.
I love hosting brunches. If you haven't hosted one before, use these suggestions and recipes to help you out. Think of brunch as a combination of breakfast and lunch in a relaxed social environment, anything from 10 am -2 pm, and it is lovely for a weekend get-together, celebrations like baby showers, birthdays, or holidays, or for a casual catch-up with friends.
So before you start thinking, ‘Now that our family is gluten-free, how do I go about this?’, let me show you how easy it can be. All you need to do is discover some new favorites I've outlined below. When we host, we keep it all gluten-free, so we don't need to worry about cross-contamination and can eat with ease. However, if you are getting help with catering, we will share some tips to help you along.
So, before we jump into the menu options, try and have a blend of both sweet and savory dishes, and also some light lunch options. A good brunch in my books is one where there is unhurried eating and bursts of laughter from guests enjoying each other's company. And of course a host that is able to enjoy the brunch too.

Breakfast Casserole
This hearty gluten-free breakfast casserole features hash browns, eggs, cheese, and your choice of sausage, ham, or bacon. It is perfect for feeding a crowd and can be prepared ahead of time. I place it on a heating tray, and everyone can enjoy a slice or two as they please.
Quiche
A versatile gluten-free quiche with a flaky crust and creamy custard filling. Customize with your favorite vegetables and proteins for a savory brunch option. And if you want something easier to serve, these Gluten-Free Quiche Bites work a treat.
Fluffy Pancakes with Berries
Light and airy pancakes that can be made in bulk and stored for later. Add your favorite mix-ins like berries or chocolate chips for extra flavor. And the recipe for gluten-free pancakes is simple!
Gluten-Free Donuts
Soft, tender gluten-free donuts coated in cinnamon sugar. My favorite donut recipe is dairy-free, nut-free, and ready in under 20 minutes. There are several alternatives, too. If you're a dessert-for-brunch kind of person, you could make them with pumpkin or even Almond Joy for an extra treat.
Chocolate Paleo Granola
A crunchy, customizable Paleo granola made with gluten-free oats, nuts, and seeds. Perfect for topping yogurt and adding it to beautiful glasses. It is always a favorite amongst guests and is super simple to make ahead.
Sausage Appetizers With Bacon
These simple sausage bites are easy to make and packed with flavor. They're naturally low-carb, keto-friendly, and perfect for any gathering.
Toast with Compote Jam
I love this gluten-free bread recipe. It's one of my all-time favorites and people keep coming back for more. It's also very good as a side with eggs. Try it toasted, served with fruit compote, fresh butter, or jam. Yum!
Cinnamon Rolls
These gluten-free cinnamon rolls are one of the best recipes to make. They come out so soft; everyone loves a gluten-free cinnamon roll topped with frosting.
Chicken Nuggets
I always like to make sure I include a recipe that kids love, and guess what, they cannot stop eating these gluten-free chicken nuggets. Be sure to have enough ketchup on hand as these disappear quickly. Full tummies also ensure that the adults have a good time with minimal meltdowns.
Blueberry Muffins
Muffins work perfectly as you can bake them in cupcake liners, and it's an easy, handheld treat. Everyone loves a good muffin, and you can serve a variety of flavors. Gluten-free blueberry muffins and banana seem to be the most popular flavors.
Gluten-Free Waffles
Waffles work well, as you can have a variety of toppings, such as chocolate chips, different syrups, and jelly. Cream is a must. And these gluten-free waffles make sure everyone can partake.
Bundt Cake
Cakes are always a must-have as part of your spread. And this gluten-free bundt cake is a perfect addition. Depending on the number of people, I may have one or two cakes. Everyone always loves ending off on a sweet note. This gluten-free madeleine recipe is also good if you prefer a handheld treat.
Gluten-Free Sausage Balls
These sausage balls are also a good addition, as mentioned, you need a nice blend of sweet and savory to fill your guests up. They're also one of the easiest recipes to make for a large group.
Crescent Rolls
Everyone loves these gluten-free crescent rolls, and they work perfectly with shredded cheese and jelly. Plus you can slice them open and serve with a fried egg and bacon to make a filling, restaurant-worthy sandwich.
French Toast Casserole
Casseroles work nicely for a brunch, as you can slice them and everyone can help themselves. I do like to add a few casseroles to the spread to fill guests up. It works well if the weather is cooler as everyone enjoys something warm from the oven. There's a good recipe for gluten-free French toast casserole.
Blueberry Scones
Like all the other recipes listed here, these blueberry scones only require gluten-free ingredients. They're one of those recipes that are easy to prepare in advance, especially when you don't know exactly how many people to expect. I like to make extra (because we will eat the leftovers)!
Brunch Building Tips
If you are new to making a brunch spread, here are a few tips to help you prepare your spread.
- Use a combination of sweet and savory dishes. Don't forget to include some refreshing beverages like a fruit punch.
- Make sure you have a nice mix of appetizers, protein dishes, and handheld dessert treats. The easier it is to eat standing up, the better. So skewers are a must, where possible.
- To assist you with preparing, use a few make-ahead recipes and then prepare the rest on the day.
- If you are asking others to prepare dishes, make sure they understand a gluten-free diet (celiac disease) and how important it is in keeping a safe gluten-free kitchen. I usually invite guests to my house with the ingredients, and then we prepare it in my kitchen.
- Add some dips and breads to make the spread fuller. A fruit platter is always a good inclusion, especially with a dip.
Hosting A Brunch With Ease
On the day, you want to make sure you have pretty much everything covered and self-explanatory, so you can socialise and participate in the event once the event starts. And just do a few passes past the brunch spread to make sure everything is topped up and refreshed as needed. Here's some advice so this can happen:
- Label the food, and if you are having new guests and don't know their dietary requirements, you may want to include the ingredients on the label cards. You may be catering to others with varying celiac sensitivities or food allergies.
- Use trusted brands you know are certified gluten-free.
- If you are serving seafood, salmon, or shellfish, be aware of the risk of foodborne illness. Make sure all is prepared correctly and served on ice to keep it at the correct temperature so it does not spoil.
- If you have any meat dishes, make sure there is no undercooked meats.
- Make sure you add all condiments and sides like maple syrup, jam, cream cheese, cheeses like cheddar, and any other things, like tomato sauce are near the dish.
Now that we've covered all that you need to make a successful brunch, go out and start planning your brunch menu. Enjoy your brunch!
