Whether you’re looking for a simple or a sophisticated appetizer, these Broiled Artichokes with Creamy Mackerel Dip are going to be the centerpiece at your next party. Broiled artichoke hearts with a crunchy, cheese-y topping dipped in a smooth, rich mackerel dip will have everyone racing to the appetizer table.
When I search the internet for appetizers, I look for simple dishes that pack big flavors. I also look for appetizers that work any time of year, or for any party occasion. Sure, I like themed appetizers here and there, but I want appetizers that I can make anytime.
What does everyone serve at a party or gather? Dip. Can we all agree that dip is a universal food – kind of like coffee and chocolate?
Every single party I’ve gone to has chips and dip, or crackers and dip. If you come to a party at my house you’ll definitely find dip .. and Glutino Crackers. I served Glutino Crackers with these Broiled Artichokes and Creamy Mackerel Dip (recipe below) recently for a friends birthday. Everyone went nuts for it.
Mackerel is packed with protein and rich in Omega 3-s. It’s high in vitamins and naturally no-carb and no-sugars, making it a good protein for those who need to eat a high protein diet. Why not sneak a little protien into your party dip? Win.
The Mackerel added a unique and bold flavor (similar to how anchovies add flavor to Cesar dressing) and helped balance the Dijon and capers. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
Bela Wild Caught Mackerel is hand packed fresh in organic EVOO and organic Piri-Piri – and within 8 hours of freshness. I chose to include BELA Seafood Mackerel in Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil because of the extra nutritional boost from the olive oil. Olive oil is an incredible and healthy source of fat. So not only is this dip high in protien, it’s also high in healthy fats.
You can make this creamy mackerel dip and serve it with Glutino crackers and broiled artichoke hearts, or you can make either recipe by itself. Both recipes are below for your enjoyment.
