These No-Bake Chocolate Espresso Energy Bites are going to rock your taste buds. They’re easy to make, only require one bowl to prep, and can be enjoyed any time of the day.
I’ve been hitting the gym 4-5 days a week and I’m always craving something chocolaty after. Instead of reaching for a candy bar, or granola bar, I’ve been grabbing a couple of these tasty no-bake energy bites.
This energy bites recipe makes twelve scrumptious energy bites, and easily gets me through the week. You can always double or triple the batch if you want to keep extra no-bake chocolate espresso energy bites on hand.
How long do energy bites last in the fridge
These energy bites last up to a week in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You can store them in a freezer for up to 2 months. Depending on other types of energy bites, they may or may not last a full week. It depends on the ingredients used to make them.
No-Bake Energy Bites
Curious about the ground coffee in these no-bake energy bites? The fine ground coffee not only adds a bit of a “mocha” taste to these tasty treats, but it also brings out the flavors of the chocolate and the coconut. The texture is smooth, but also firm like a protein bar or a truffle. These No-Bake Chocolate Espresso Energy Bites are what I would describe as a cross between the two.
If you’re not a fan of coffee, swap out the ground espresso with chocolate protein powder for an extra protein boost. Often people ask me about substitutions. You can sub in anything you want into these energy bites, just note that it may change the texture and will most definitely change the flavor.
I would not use wheat flour or any other non-nut flour in this recipe. This recipe was designed with nut flours because of the added natural oils.
Maple Syrup Substitution: This recipe calls for maple syrup, but you can use honey.
Also, you can use your favorite type of chocolate. I like to use no sugar added dark chocolate in this recipe so that it keeps it Paleo.
Ingredients in Energy Bites
- almond flour
- coconut flour
- unsweetened cocoa
- 1fresh ground coffee (espresso/fine ground) OR chocolate protein powder
- coconut oil, softened
- pure maple syrup
- chopped almonds
- chopped dark chocolate (I use Paleo/Vegan chocolate)
melted dark chocolate for drizzling (optional)
How to make Energy Bites
- Put the first six ingredients in to a medium mixing bowl and stir until combined and all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Stir in sliced almonds and chopped dark chocolate. Roll into 1-inch sized balls (bites) and place on a wax paper lined plate or cookie sheet.
- If desired, drizzle with melted chocolate.
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

How to make Low Carb Energy Bites
To make these no-bake energy bites into low carb energy bites simply replace the maple syrup with maple flavored Lakanto syrup and use a low carb chocolate.
