Celebrate Halloween this year with On-the-Go Allergy Friendly Hot Chocolate and Treats. This quick and simple hot chocolate will warm everybody up after a fun night of trick-or-treating. And you can make it ON-THE-GO!
I’m happy to report that I have Halloween night completely planned. Usually we rush home, throw leftovers in the microwave and rush the kids off to trick-or-treat. But this year I’m doing it right.
I’m going to have a fresh meal in the crock-pot, allergy friendly treats ready by the door, and a special treat for when our girls get home – Allergy Friendly Hot Cocoa!
More about that in a bit… it’s super amazing and I can’t wait to tell you about it so don’t go anywhere.
If you don’t know by now, we love Enjoy Life Foods products. All their products are free from the top eight food allergens. That means everyone in my family can enjoy their products and know that they’re eating safe. Last year I picked up little samples of their baking chocolate.
Like a bad mom, I hid them in my purse and didn’t plan to share. As I snacked on the little bag of chocolates I kept thinking how convenient they were. Imagine my excitement when I found out they were going to sell their mini chips and morsels in individual packages.
As a parent to kids with food intolerance, I have to ALWAYS keep something on hand or in my purse in case of emergencies. There are more times than I can count where we were at a friends house, or soccer game and someone showed up with glutinous treats.
I remember one soccer game earlier this year where a parent brought a box of donuts to celebrate a players birthday. Most parents on her team bring gluten-free treats for her so she can enjoy a treat too. Not this time.
This parent was new, and didn’t know that two of the girls on the team (including my daughter) couldn’t eat gluten.
The sad look on my daughters face crushed me. Then I remembered that I had a pack of mini chips secretly tucked into the bottom of my purse. I whipped it out and gave it to her. Her frown turned into a huge tooth-bearing grin.
I love and appreciate being able to keep safe treats in my purse. Maybe that’s why I’m handing the Baking Chocolate Snack Packs out for Halloween this year.
In addition to the Baking Chocolate Snack Packs, I’m giving out Enjoy Life Mini Cookies, and boomCHOCOboom bars to trick-or-treater’s. For non-food items I’m handing out bouncy balls and glow bracelets. A kid can never have too many glow bracelets, right?
I’m also keeping some treats in the cupboard so I can trade my kids for their non-allergy friendly treats (which we plan on donating).
One of the things I’m excited about this year is making them ghost topped Allergy Friendly Hot Chocolates after then get home from trick-or-treating. Not only is the whipped cream ghost on top super cute, the hot chocolate is the easiest hot chocolate I’ve ever made.
You know those Baking Chocolate Snack Packs I was just raving about? They make AMAZING on-the-go hot chocolate. All you need to do is empty a packet into a microwaveable safe dish, add your favorite dairy-free milk, and microwave.
Once the milk is hot, you stir until the chocolate is dissolved and the hot chocolate is smooth. Genius right?
One of the great things about making hot chocolate this way is that you can carry a couple packets in your bag or purse and make it anytime – whether you’re at work or traveling. Just order steamed dairy-free milk, or hot water, and you are good to go.
My girls are particularly excited about being able to have allergy friendly hot chocolate when we travel because almost no place makes hot chocolate completely dairy-free. You can order dairy-free milk but usually the chocolate sauce has dairy in it. These packets enable us to have hot chocolate whenever our hears desire it.
