HOW TO USE AN INSTANT POT
It is recommended to follow a recipe or read the manufacturer's user guide before using your Instant Pot. Here's a brief summary:
- Place your Instant Pot on a sturdy counter and place it on.
- Follow your recipe in terms of placing in the ingredients. You will require liquid (beef broth/ chicken broth or vegetable broth), either hot or cold.
- Check the sealing ring is in properly. Secure the Instant Pot lid and make sure it is sealed.
- Set the pressure level.
- Adjust the timer.
- The pressure will then build up in the Instant Pot and then the counter will eventually come on to give you the total time.
- The Instant Pot will beep once the cooking has ended. Depending on the recipe you will naturally or quick release.
- Enjoy your gluten-free Instant Pot recipe.
CAN YOU PUT FROZEN MEAT IN THE INSTANT POT?
Yes, you can. You will need to adjust the overall cooking time and the time it takes to come to pressure will take longer.
WHAT CAN I COOK IN THE INSTANT POT?
As you can see from the list of recipes, you can cook pretty much most dishes in the Instant Pot. From your favorite side dish to dips and comfort food, you can try it all.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN QUICK RELEASE AND NATURAL RELEASE?
Quick release - This is when you release after the Instant Pot recipe has cooked and come to pressure and your dinner recipes are cooked. Instead of waiting for the Instant Pot to naturally release the pressure over time, you do it quicker.
Natural release - This is when you let the Instant Pot to naturally release, which is when the meal is cooked, the pressure releases on its own over time.
Gluten-Free Instant Pot Recipes: Instant Pot Pepper Steak Recipe
If you love gluten-free Instant Pot recipes you're going to want to make this Instant Pot pepper steak recipe.
- 1 tablespoons oil (olive oil and avocado oil, for more flavor, use sesame oil)
- 2 bell peppers, seeds removed and thinly sliced
- 1 lb. flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- ¾ cup water (6 oz.)
- 2 tablespoons gluten-free soy sauce or tamari
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoon grated ginger (a piece about the size of a thumb, finely grated)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoon cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons water
- Add oil to Instant Pot and set Instant Pot to “sauté”.
- When the oil is hot, add in peppers and cook for 1-2 minutes or until they start to brown. Remove peppers; set aside.
- Add ¾ cup water, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, brown sugar, black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder to the Instant Pot. Stir to combine.
- Add in the beef and stir to combine.
- Place the lid on, lock to seal, and set to cook at high pressure for 7 minutes.
- While beef is cooking, add cornstarch and 3 tbsp of water to a small bowl. Whisk until cornstarch is completely dissolved in the water.
- When beef is done cooking, quick release the pressure to prevent the beef from overcooking.
- Stir the instant pot pepper steak to ensure everything is combined.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and stir quickly. Stir until sauce is thickened.
- Add bell peppers back to the instant pot and stir until combined.
- Serve warm over rice.
- Cook rice in an electric rice cooker or on the stove while your instant pot is running.
- The cook time on this recipe is 7 minutes, but you also need to allow 10 minutes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure, so about 17 minutes in total after you lock the lid.
